ADVANCED ORTHOTIC DESIGNS INC.

Piedro Footwear Models - Piedro has been making footwear since 1957 and in 1969 they developed a line of semi-orthopedic footwear designed for individuals with special needs. There are several models and designs available, some are featured below.

Rehabilitation Footwear - this line of footwear is most suitable for the child with mild foot instability often associated with cerebral palsy. Some of these shoes are suitable for attachment of external bracing such as with the SMART Walker ™ Orthosis.      To see models click here.

Stability Footwear - this line of footwear has higher counters (stiffeners) in the shoe versus the rehab line. They provide greater sujpport and are suitable for more severe instability of the foot and ankle complex. They are commonly used for children involved with Conductive Education programs.   To see models click here.

Sports Line - this line of footwear is very stylish and the boots have some special features such as air cells in the heel. They are most suitable for good ambulators that need that extra bit of support but still want to look cool. In most cases splinting would be overbracing for these children but a nice supportive boot may fit the prescription. To see models click here.

Reverse Lasted - the reverse lasted footwear provides an outflare to reduce forefoot adduction. They are most suitable for children with congenital club foot.

AFO Footwear - this footwear is for the child with severe foot deformity who must wear a splint (AFO) around their limb for stability. Depending on the design of the AFO it can sometimes be difficult for parents to find a regular shoe that will accommodate the AFO. The AFO footwear from Piedro is specially designed for such a task.
