Greg Belbin, CO (c)
CBCPO Ceritfied Orthotist and President of AOD Inc.
Greg is president of Advanced Orthotic Designs (AOD), a Canadian company that specializes in the design, development, fabrication, and fitting of complex orthopedic devices. Greg is a graduate of the Prosthetic Orthotic Program at George Brown College and received his Certification in Orthotics from the Canadian Board for Certification of Prosthetists and Orthotists (CBCPO) in 1981. Greg held the executive position of Secretariat to the Board within the CBCPO from 1989 to 1994.
Greg established AOD in 1997 and continues to provide excellent orthotic care for children and adults across southern Ontario. Greg was instrumental in the design and development of the SMART Walker OrthosisTM (SWO), a significant advancement in gait training orthotic technology. The SWO was introduced onto the market in 1999 and is being manufactured in Ontario. It continues to be well received by families and health care providers alike. Prior to AOD, Greg was Director of Applied Technology and Orthotic Services at the Hugh MacMillan Centre in Toronto (currently Bloorview Kids Rehab). At the Hugh MacMillan Centre, Greg practiced orthotic care, provided instructional guidance for orthotic interns and helped establish an orthotic research division whose innovative designs have led to increased quality of life for children with disabilities.
Greg has traveled extensively and is well known for his international orthotic work in developing countries. During the mid 1990s, in association with the International Centre for the Advancement of Community Based Rehabilitation (ICACBR) at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, he taught the principals of orthotic techniques at various public and non-governmental organization facilities throughout India. He has published several papers related to orthotics and speaks regularly on emerging technologies as they pertain to orthotic care.
Greg is married with two children, two grandchildren, and a dog (Weimaraner). He enjoys playing golf, is a competitive hockey player and a certified scuba diver.
Mark Faseruk, CO (c)
CBCPO Ceritfied Orthotist and AOD Clinician
Mark has been a member of the AOD team since 2007. Mark attended the Clinical Methods in Orthotics and Prosthetic Program at George Brown College in Toronto where he graduated with honours. Mark's clinical training included rotations at Chedoke Hospital, West Park Hospital, Sunnybrook Hospital, Bloorview Kids Rehab and a residency at AOD. This resulted in Mark successfully completing the CBCPO certification examinations and becoming a Certified Orthotist in 2010.
Prior to joining the AOD team, Mark completed the Orthotic/Prosthetic Technical Program and worked as an Orthotic Technician at Nipissing Orthopaedic Laboratory in North Bay, Ontario.
Mark is married with two children and a dog (English bulldog) and enjoys playing hockey and spending quality time with his family.
Administrative Assistant/Appointment Coordinator
Kristin joined AOD in December 2014 as an administrative assistant/appointment coordinator. She keeps the office organized and running efficiently. Kristin brings many years of experience within the healthcare industry. She is a graduate of the Medical Administration program at George Brown College and completed her internship at North Bay Hospital. Kristin will be the one to book your appointment and is also the person to contact if you are calling to order Piedro footwear for your child.
Kyla Copp, B.Sc.(H.K.)
The newest member to join the AOD team, Kyla recently graduated with honours from the Prosthetic and Orthotic Technician program at George Brown College. Prior to this she completed her Bachelor of Science with specialization in Human Kinetics.
Kyla spent a month in Haiti, volunteering with Healing Hands for Haiti, a NGO Orthotic and Prosthetic clinic and a month in India volunteering with Mobility India, a school for Prosthetics and Orthotics. She hopes she can continue volunteering in developing countries. Kyla is currently completing her OPC registration to become a registered technician.
