Greg Belbin, CO (c)
CBCPO Ceritfied Orthotist and AOD Clinician
Greg is a graduate of the Prosthetic Orthotic Program at George Brown College and received his Certification in Orthotics from the Canadian Board for Certification of Prosthetists and Orthotists (CBCPO) in 1981. Greg held the executive position of Secretariat to the Board within the CBCPO from 1989 to 1994.
Greg established AOD in 1997 and continues to provide excellent orthotic care for children and adults across southern Ontario. Greg, along with his former business partner, was instrumental in the design and development of the SMART Walker OrthosisTM (SWO), a significant advancement in gait training orthotic technology. The SWO was introduced onto the market in 1999 and it helped many children with Cerebral Palsy learn to walk. Prior to AOD, Greg was Director of Applied Technology and Orthotic Services at the Hugh MacMillan Centre in Toronto (currently Bloorview Holland Kids Rehab). At the Hugh MacMillan Centre, Greg practiced orthotic care, provided instructional guidance for orthotic interns and helped establish an orthotic research division whose innovative designs have led to increased quality of life for children with disabilities.
Greg has traveled extensively and is well known for his international orthotic work in developing countries. During the mid 1990s, in association with the International Centre for the Advancement of Community Based Rehabilitation (ICACBR) at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, he taught the principals of orthotic techniques at various public and non-governmental organization facilities throughout India. He has published several papers related to orthotics and speaks regularly on emerging technologies as they pertain to orthotic care.
Greg is married with two children and three grandchildren. He enjoys playing golf, curling and watching the Leafs. He is also a certified scuba diver.
